By now, you've no doubt heard the news that Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande have called off their engagement and officially ended their relationship, which lates for about 45 seconds.
Fans of Ariana's have had very mixed reactions to the news.
Many expressed sympathy for the singer, while others reveled in the news that she and Davidson were no longer an item.
For millions of fans, the relationship was suspect from the very start.
Part of the reason for the widespread wariness was that Pete and Ari had both just gotten out longterm relationships just prior to going public with their romance.
Ariana had recently broken up with Mac Miller when she started dating Pete, who was apparently still dating Cazzie David at the time.
Yes, it now looks as though there was some overlap between Davidson's two most recent relationships.
Needless to say, Ari fans were repulsed by that fact, and Cazzie received the sympathy of millions.
Given how much she's been in the public eye as of late, perhaps it was inevitable that many would turn their attention to Cazzie in the wake of Pete and Ari's breakup.
And perhaps it was just as inevitable that rumors of Cazzie and Pete getting back together would eventually make their way across the social media landscape.
Fortunately, there's no reason to believe that Cazzie would ever be foolish enough to take Pete back.
Unfortunately, the internet has made up its mind that David is forever on the verge of giving Davidson a second chance.
And so, thousands have flocked to Cazzie's Instagram page to warn her against such a dire mistake.
As Life & Style points out, their comments range from sweetly concerned to troublingly stern.
“Don’t get back with him, queen,” wrote one fan on one of David's recent posts.
“If you take that f—ing sh–bag back, I’m going to call your daddy,” commented another.
David's father is Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David.
Not the most intimidating figure, but the point stands.
Other followers are less concerned about Cazzie taking Pete back and more interested in congratulating her on her romantic victory.
“So I don’t know you.. but this is a perfect example of how karma always gets to you in the end," one fan recently commented.
"Seriously, you won. You go, girl! You won TF outta that breakup,”
Of course, the whole idea that there's a winner and a loser in every breakup is childish and idiotic ... but when celebrities split, the public invariably chooses a side.
And these days, it looks like it's pretty lonely over on Team Davidson.
